The inspiration for this project came from next door. After watching their neighbour have a swimming pool installed, the homeowners began exploring what could be achieved in their own garden.
Rather than choosing the largest pool possible, we recommended an Aqua Technics Regency measuring 7.8m x 3.4m, with a constant depth of 1.5m. Its proportions provided plenty of swimming space while leaving room for the extensive landscaping the clients had planned.
Finished in Moonlight Pool ColourGuard, the pool’s dark, reflective water complements the contemporary paving and garden design. Integrated strip lighting around the paving and pool edges highlights the clean lines of the installation after dark.
Getting the pool into the garden was the first major challenge. Despite a preliminary site survey, the clearance alongside the property proved too restricted to safely manoeuvre the one-piece shell into position. Fortunately, a neighbouring homeowner agreed to temporarily remove part of their fence, providing the additional space needed for delivery.
Construction then continued through an exceptionally wet winter, with persistent rainfall periodically preventing work on the pool and surrounding landscaping.
An unexpected sinkhole also appeared elsewhere in the garden. Although it did not affect the pool, the area required investigation and was subsequently incorporated into the property’s drainage arrangements by the client.
Throughout the installation, we worked closely with our recommended landscaper to coordinate the different stages of construction and avoid damaging completed areas.
Behind the finished design, the pool incorporates a Behncke filter, Heatform circulation pump and Polytropic air source heat pump. Automatic Bayrol pH and chlorine dosing, supported by UV disinfection, helps simplify ongoing water treatment. The Aqua Technics shell also benefits from Graphene Nano-Tech® composite construction and Pool ColourGuard® surface technology.
What began as an empty garden has become a complete outdoor living space, with the swimming pool, landscaping and lighting designed to work together.
Despite the access difficulties, challenging weather and unexpected ground conditions, the completed Regency sits comfortably within its surroundings, providing the family with a swimming pool that makes the most of their garden without dominating it.
