Set alongside a traditional Kentish oast house and its contemporary extension, this outdoor swimming pool needed to complement two very different architectural styles. The clients also had a firm deadline: they were hosting a large celebration and wanted the pool completed in time for their guests to enjoy it.
Their priority was to make the most of the available garden space, so we recommended an Aqua Technics Royale one-piece swimming pool, providing a generous swimming area without the extended construction programme associated with a traditional concrete pool.
The pool was finished in Silver Mist Pool Colour Guard, with granite copings and surrounding paving chosen to complement both the original oast house and the modern extension. The neutral finishes allow the swimming pool to sit comfortably between the two buildings without competing with their architecture.
Getting the pool to the property was one of the biggest challenges. The surrounding country lanes were particularly narrow, making delivery of such a large one-piece shell difficult. Careful route planning and manoeuvring were required to transport the pool safely to site before installation could begin.
With the clients’ celebration approaching, our team then worked to a carefully coordinated programme to complete the pool and surrounding works within the available time.
The installation includes a solar polycarbonate slatted Aqua Top cover to help retain heat and reduce evaporation, together with an air source heat pump for water heating. A chlorine feeder and UV system provide water treatment, while white LED underwater lighting allows the pool to be enjoyed after dark.
The project was successfully completed ahead of the planned celebration, giving the homeowners exactly what they had hoped for: a substantial family swimming pool that complements their unusual property and provides an additional space for entertaining.
