When our clients first began planning their dream outdoor space, they already knew exactly where to start. After visiting a swimming pool previously installed by XL Pools and seeing the quality of our workmanship firsthand, they contacted us through a recommendation to create a pool of their own.
The brief was clear from the outset. The clients wanted a swimming pool that felt contemporary and luxurious without appearing overly glamorous. Their vision was for a space that blended naturally into the landscape, creating a calm, sophisticated retreat that would complement the surrounding garden rather than dominate it.
To achieve this, they selected our Royale model, measuring 11.2m x 3.77m with a variable depth of 1.0m–1.8m. Finished in the striking Blue Steel colour, the darker interior creates rich, inviting water that reflects the surrounding landscape while perfectly complementing the property’s contemporary aesthetic.
A premium pool deserves premium equipment, so the installation was complemented with carefully selected technology to maximise both efficiency and ease of ownership.
Designed for Year-Round Enjoyment
To complement the contemporary design, the pool was equipped with a carefully selected range of premium technology that makes ownership both simple and efficient. An automatic Solar Polycarbonate slatted cover helps retain heat while providing excellent safety and security, allowing the pool to be opened or closed at the touch of a button. Heating is provided by an Ottimo XM air source heat pump, extending the swimming season while operating efficiently, and an automatic dosing system continuously monitors and maintains the water chemistry. Together, these features create a swimming pool that is not only luxurious in appearance but also straightforward to maintain, allowing the clients to spend more time enjoying their investment and less time looking after it.
While the finished project looks effortlessly elegant, constructing it was anything but straightforward.
The installation took place during January, with challenging winter conditions throughout the build. The garden sloped significantly, creating difficult working conditions, while periods of wet snow made the ground particularly difficult to work on. At times, even the excavator struggled to gain enough traction to climb to the top of the garden.
Rather than allowing the weather to dictate the project, our experienced installation team adapted to the conditions, carefully working through the challenges while maintaining the high standards expected on every XL Pools project. Although the programme took slightly longer than originally anticipated due to the conditions, the additional care taken ensured the finished result was never compromised.
What truly makes this project special is how seamlessly every element works together. The swimming pool doesn’t simply sit within the garden—it forms the centrepiece of an entire outdoor living space where every material, finish and feature complements the next.
The dark Blue Steel finish pairs beautifully with the surrounding landscaping, creating a sophisticated yet natural atmosphere that invites you to relax. The result is far more than a swimming pool; it’s a private retreat that feels like a luxury holiday destination, somewhere you simply won’t want to leave.
