The clients wanted their new swimming pool to feel like a continuation of their existing home and outdoor entertaining area. With the house already designed to connect naturally with the garden, the aim was to extend this space to include a pool that could be enjoyed during family gatherings and larger celebrations.
A one-piece swimming pool finished in Hamptons Blue Pool Colour Guard was selected, with granite copings and surrounding paving chosen to complement the property’s contemporary design.
One of the main considerations was how the pool would function when entertaining. The clients wanted to control the lighting and music throughout the outdoor space without having to operate everything separately. The pool’s white LED lighting, external lighting and music system were therefore incorporated into a control arrangement that could be operated remotely or from inside the house.
This allows the homeowners to adjust the atmosphere across the garden, whether enjoying the pool during the day or hosting guests in the evening.
The installation also includes a solar polycarbonate slatted Aqua Top cover, which complements the pool’s appearance when closed while helping to retain heat and reduce evaporation. A small air source heat pump provides water heating, with a chlorine feeder and UV system installed for water treatment.
The biggest challenge during construction was the weather. Heavy snowfall and prolonged wet conditions left the ground extremely muddy, making access and everyday site operations more difficult. Our team had to work around these conditions while continuing with the installation and surrounding works.
The completed pool now forms part of the home’s wider entertaining space, with the lighting and music controls allowing the clients to make full use of the garden during social occasions.
Rather than treating the swimming pool as a separate feature, the project was designed around how the family already used their home, extending their living space into the garden.
