With a major celebration approaching, the clients wanted their new swimming pool installed and ready to use before the event. Rather than postponing the project, we agreed to work towards an ambitious deadline, allowing just 20 working days to complete the installation and surrounding paving.
The homeowners had an established, carefully landscaped garden and were keen to preserve as much of it as possible. They wanted the pool to complement the existing space rather than make the garden feel completely redesigned.
A one-piece fibreglass swimming pool finished in Silver Mist Pool Colour Guard was selected, with Leckford Sandstone copings and paving chosen to blend with the surrounding landscaping.
Access was one of the main challenges. The entrance to the garden was particularly narrow, requiring careful planning to manoeuvre the one-piece pool shell into position. An existing garden statue also had to be temporarily moved and protected during construction before being returned to its original location.
With such a tight programme, the excavation, pool installation and paving works had to be carefully coordinated to avoid unnecessary delays.
The pool incorporates a solar polycarbonate slatted Aqua Top cover to help retain heat and reduce evaporation, alongside a small air source heat pump for water heating. White LED underwater lighting was installed, together with a chlorine feeder and UV system for water treatment.
Despite the restricted access and the additional care needed to protect the garden, the entire installation was completed in just 20 working days, from the original lawn to the finished pool and surrounding sandstone paving.
The clients were able to enjoy their new swimming pool in time for their celebration, with the surrounding garden retaining the established character that had been so important to them from the outset.
