With uninterrupted views across the surrounding countryside, the clients wanted a swimming pool that would make the most of their garden’s rural setting. The property already had mature landscaping and an established pond, so it was important that the new installation complemented these features rather than dominating the space.
Working with the homeowners, we considered the positioning of the pool and the surrounding materials to ensure the countryside views remained a central part of the design.
The one-piece swimming pool was finished in Grey Sky Silver Pool Colour Guard, with Leckford Sandstone selected for the copings and paving. The natural tones of the sandstone work well with the established garden, while the pool’s lighter finish reflects the changing daylight.
Lighting was also considered, with white LED underwater lights and additional lighting around the pool allowing the area to be enjoyed into the evening.
The pool was designed primarily for family use, providing somewhere for the clients’ children to swim and play while making better use of the garden during the warmer months.
A solar polycarbonate slatted Aqua Top cover was installed to help retain heat and reduce evaporation, together with a small air source heat pump for water heating. The filtration system incorporates a chlorine feeder and UV disinfection for water treatment.
The installation was completed in just three weeks, with our team working carefully around the existing landscaping to minimise disruption to the garden.
The homeowners now have a swimming pool immediately outside their home, with the surrounding countryside providing a backdrop that changes throughout the seasons. Its position also allows the family to enjoy the garden in a different way, without losing the established features that made the setting so appealing in the first place.
