The clients had a very particular vision for their indoor swimming pool: a luxurious, gold-themed leisure suite that would reflect the interiors of their home and provide the facilities of a private spa.
Working alongside the clients’ own construction company, XL Pools was appointed to deliver a bespoke reinforced concrete swimming pool measuring 8.5m x 4m, with a depth of 1.5m. The wider leisure suite also incorporates a spa, sauna, steam room, shower facilities and a lounge area, allowing the homeowners to enjoy a complete wellness experience without leaving the property.
Gold was central to the design brief, influencing the selection of finishes and equipment throughout the pool room.
The swimming pool was finished in Tomohawk mosaic tiles, with reflective tones that complement the gold detailing and porcelain surrounds. White LED underwater lighting was incorporated to highlight the mosaics and enhance their appearance beneath the water.
One of the most distinctive features is the bespoke gold automatic slatted Aqua Top cover. Selected specifically to complement the room’s colour scheme, the cover provides an unusual visual feature when closed, while also helping to retain heat and reduce evaporation.
An automatic chemical dosing system and UV disinfection were installed for water treatment, alongside a Heatstar environmental control system to manage humidity and maintain suitable conditions within the indoor pool room.
The overall project took approximately two years to complete. With the swimming pool forming part of a much larger leisure suite, close coordination was required between our team, the homeowners and their construction company. The different facilities and interior finishes needed to be incorporated into the wider building programme, with particular attention given to achieving the clients’ chosen design.
The completed installation brings together the swimming pool, spa and surrounding wellness facilities within one dedicated area of the home.
From the gold slatted cover to the extensive mosaic finishes, the project is particularly memorable for the level of personalisation involved. The clients’ original vision has been carried through into the smallest details, creating a private leisure suite that is entirely their own.
