The clients wanted a swimming pool that would complement the Oriental-inspired design of their home and garden. With darker finishes and natural materials already featuring throughout the property, it was important that the new pool followed the same style.
Following several consultations with XL Pools Director Anthony Exell, the homeowners decided on a design that combined dark water, granite surrounds and a cascading water feature.
Although they had initially considered a lighter pool colour, we recommended Moonlight Pool Colour Guard to complement the darker tones of the property. The finished colour creates a deep, reflective appearance, particularly alongside the Trevose Granite copings and paving.
A Bali waterfall curtain is the defining feature of the installation. Inspired by the movement and sound of water in traditional Oriental gardens, it introduces a continuous cascade into the swimming pool, creating a focal point that can be enjoyed from both the pool and surrounding garden.
White LED underwater lighting was incorporated to illuminate the pool during evening use, while a small air source heat pump provides water heating.
A solar polycarbonate slatted Aqua Top cover helps retain heat and reduce evaporation, with a chlorine feeder and UV disinfection system installed for water treatment.
The installation took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing additional disruption alongside periods of challenging weather. Despite these circumstances, our team completed the swimming pool installation in approximately six weeks.
The homeowners now have a swimming pool that reflects the character of their property, with the dark water, natural granite and cascading waterfall working together to create the Oriental-inspired garden setting they originally envisioned.
