What was once a steep stretch of lawn is now a swimming pool and landscaped outdoor space, thanks to a design developed by the homeowner and some carefully planned structural work.
The client had a clear vision for the garden, with an Aqua Technics Aspen one-piece swimming pool at the centre of the scheme. However, the significant change in ground level meant the installation would require considerably more preparation than a typical pool excavation.
To create a suitable setting for the pool, we incorporated reinforced concrete construction and substantial retaining walls. These provided the structural support needed to accommodate the slope and establish a level area for the swimming pool and surrounding landscaping.
The retaining structures also became part of the garden’s overall design, allowing the homeowner to make better use of an area that had previously offered limited possibilities.
The Aspen was selected for its contemporary design and one-piece composite construction. Its interior incorporates Pool ColourGuard® technology, developed to improve colour retention and resistance to UV exposure and pool chemicals.
The pool also features Microtech antimicrobial surface protection and Graphene Nano-Tech® composite technology, alongside structural reinforcement within the shell, steps and seating areas.
Despite the additional groundwork required by the sloping site, the swimming pool installation was completed in approximately six weeks.
The completed garden follows the homeowner’s original design, with the pool integrated into the new levels and surrounding landscape.
It’s a particularly interesting example of how a challenging garden can accommodate a swimming pool when the groundwork and structural requirements are considered from the outset.
