While their new home was under construction, the clients approached XL Pools to create a dedicated indoor leisure area incorporating a swimming pool, spa and steam room.
They wanted somewhere the family could swim, relax and entertain throughout the year, with particular attention given to the interior finishes, ease of maintenance and running costs.
Working alongside the wider house construction, we installed a bespoke reinforced concrete swimming pool and spa, with an adjoining steam room completing the leisure suite.
One of the most distinctive design choices was the use of Tomohawk iridescent mosaic tiles throughout all three areas. The reflective tiles create subtle changes in colour depending on the lighting, while the consistent finish visually connects the swimming pool, spa and steam room.
Colour-changing LED underwater lighting was installed in the pool, allowing the homeowners to adjust the lighting to suit different occasions.
To maintain the pool’s clean appearance, we incorporated a concealed automatic slatted Aqua Top cover with transparent slats. When retracted, the cover is hidden from view; when closed, it helps retain heat and reduce evaporation. Both the cover and pool lighting can be operated remotely.
For water treatment, a Hydroxinator system was installed alongside UV disinfection, helping simplify ongoing pool maintenance.
The adjoining spa provides a separate area for relaxation, while the steam room offers another option within the same dedicated leisure space.
With all three facilities incorporated into the design of the new home, the clients now have a private swimming and wellness area that can be enjoyed by family and friends throughout the year.
