Having recently moved into their forever home, the clients wanted to add a swimming pool without sacrificing too much of their garden. The property combined traditional and contemporary architecture, so the new pool needed to complement the house while making the best use of the available space.
The solution was a compact one-piece swimming pool, positioned close to the house to preserve as much of the remaining garden as possible.
Finished in Twilight Pool Colour Guard, the pool features rich blue tones that contrast with the surrounding granite copings and paving. White LED underwater lighting was also incorporated, bringing out the reflective qualities of the pool’s finish after dark.
During excavation, we discovered existing rainwater drainage pipes running directly through the proposed pool area. These needed to be carefully rerouted around the pool footprint before the installation could continue, ensuring the property’s drainage system remained functional.
The swimming pool was fitted with a solar polycarbonate slatted Aqua Top cover to help retain heat and reduce evaporation, alongside a small air source heat pump for water heating.
A chlorine feeder and UV disinfection system were also installed to manage water treatment and simplify ongoing maintenance.
Positioning the pool close to the house has made it a prominent feature of the garden, while allowing the homeowners to retain valuable outdoor space for other activities.
The completed installation shows that a swimming pool doesn’t need an enormous garden. With careful positioning and a suitable pool design, the clients have gained somewhere to swim and relax without compromising the outdoor space that was already important to them.
