Our client’s vision was clear from the outset: this swimming pool needed to be far more than a place to swim. It had to be a bold architectural statement, reflecting the elegance, scale, and luxury of their eight-bedroom English country manor set within landscaped gardens near West Malling, Kent.
The home already featured an impressive leisure suite including a spa, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and gym, and the new pool needed to sit seamlessly alongside these spaces. The brief called for a design that felt refined yet dramatic, luxurious yet timeless, with flawless detailing throughout.
After exploring a number of options, the client chose a bespoke reinforced-concrete mosaic pool, allowing complete freedom over proportions, finishes, and lighting. Working closely with the client and design team, we were heavily involved in shaping every detail — from the pool dimensions and mosaic selection to the lighting layout and elegant laminar water features — ensuring perfect symmetry with the surrounding architecture.
During the design process, there was a memorable moment when our Managing Director showed the client examples of laminar jets. The client immediately recognised one of the promotional videos and laughed: “That’s my pool in America!” Pentair had unknowingly used footage of his U.S. pool in their marketing. His response was simple — the new pool in Kent had to be the same, if not better. Challenge accepted.
The finished pool measures 13.75 metres by 6.25 metres, with water depths from 1.15 metres to 2.15 metres, and is finished in Tomohawk mosaic tiles for a rich, contemporary look. A matching square spa, along with a sauna and steam room, completes the wellness suite, creating a cohesive and luxurious environment.
The reinforced-concrete shell was constructed in collaboration with the main contractor and fully insulated for comfort and efficiency. The pool operates as a skimmer system, delivering clear, inviting water at all times, supported by high-performance filtration and UV water treatment for excellent clarity and bather comfort. Environmental control within the pool hall is handled by a Heatstar system, maintaining comfortable air temperature and humidity year-round.
To enhance energy efficiency, a grey slatted pool cover was installed to retain heat, reduce evaporation, and maintain water temperature when the pool is not in use.
The result is a bespoke indoor pool and wellness space that feels completely at home within its setting — elegant, calming, and unmistakably luxurious. This project is a perfect example of how thoughtful design, close collaboration, and meticulous attention to detail can transform a swimming pool into a true centrepiece of the home.
