Our client approached XL Pools with a clear and ambitious brief: to create a swimming pool that would not only look beautiful in its setting but also deliver year-round usability, daily exercise, and therapeutic benefits. The pool needed to feel like a natural extension of their meticulously designed estate, which already featured formal gardens, a lake, a tennis court, and striking landscaping elements.
To meet the client’s performance goals, we specified a Binder swim jet system, allowing for daily swim training and hydrotherapy regardless of the season. This, combined with a large air source heat pump (ASHP), ensures year-round comfort and energy-efficient heating. We also supplied and installed a Coverseal Semi-automatic pool cover, a sleek, safe minimalistic pool cover, great for keeping the pool clean all year round. The result is a pool that supports both fitness and wellbeing — truly enhancing the client’s lifestyle.
Aesthetically, the challenge was to create a design that blended seamlessly with the estate’s contemporary elegance. We selected premium downstand copings to achieve a sleek, modern edge and a super-high-water level that visually integrates the pool into its surroundings. The result is a sophisticated focal point that feels both timeless and tailored.
This project presented several unique challenges — each met with creativity and determination.
The first major hurdle occurred during delivery of the one-piece pool shell. The transport lorry experienced a rear-wheel steer failure, preventing it from accessing the property via the narrow approach lane. With quick thinking and local collaboration, our team turned a potential delay into a success story. A nearby farmer, connected personally with our project manager, kindly offered access through his field just before it was due to be ploughed — allowing the delivery to proceed smoothly and on time.
A second challenge arose when it became apparent, just weeks before completion, that no landscaper had been appointed. Stepping beyond our typical remit, we took on the landscaping works ourselves, ensuring the finished space matched the quality and design intent of the pool. This proactive approach not only preserved the project timeline but elevated the end result, transforming the pool into what the client described as “the missing piece” of their outdoor retreat.
This installation marks a milestone as the first Elysian Platinum one-piece pool from the Aqua Technics Villa series to be installed in the UK. Manufactured in Australia and reinforced with Nano Graphene technology for exceptional structural integrity, the pool features full-width steps, downstand copings, and a Coverseal safety cover — blending luxury, practicality, and safety in equal measure.
An advanced filtration system with UV and automatic chlorine and pH dosing ensures crystal-clear water with minimal maintenance, while a high-efficiency polytropic heat pump provides optimal energy performance.
The completed pool is more than just a design statement — it has become an integral part of the client’s lifestyle.
